About Caprise

Welcome to my page, I’m Caprise Cooper, an artist with a lifelong passion for capturing the beauty of nature. I work primarily with pastels but also explore oil and pencil. My goal is to create art that evokes emotion and captures fleeting moments in time, bringing the splendor of the natural world to life for everyone to enjoy.

My journey as an artist began when I was sixteen. I started collaborating with other talented artists at Studio in The Woods in Wauconda, IL. This early experience deepened my love for art, leading me to pursue a formal education. I earned an Associate’s Degree in Fine Art from the College of Lake County.

After a 20-year break to raise my family, I returned to my art with renewed passion. I began studying again at the Mainstreet Art Center in Lake Zurich, IL, which allowed me to refine my skills and rediscover my creative voice. Today, my art is part of several private collections, which is both humbling and rewarding. I’ve been fortunate enough to win several awards for my work.

I currently work out of my studio on Petit Jean Mountain in Arkansas. The breathtaking views of the Arkansas River and the surrounding landscapes of the Ouachita Mountains and Ozark Plateaus inspire much of my work.

I’m proud to be a Signature Member of the Arkansas Pastel Society, where I also serve as President of the society. I’m a Signature Member of the Ozark Pastel Society, and a juried Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA). I serve on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS). These affiliations reflect my commitment to constantly grow as an artist and stay connected with the larger art community.

I hope my work captures a moment in time, fills you with emotion, sparks a memory, and brings out the beauty of nature in a way that resonates with you.
